 PROJECT

This project is one I have been working on since January of 2020.

It is an exploration of myself by pointing my lens at an equine yard in Devon. To me these horses, wild to an extent and domesticated to another, have been a constant through the difficulties of the pandemic and the stress of the final year of my degree. I spent many hours independently researching how these animals communicate, and teaching myself how to engage my own body language in an effective manner to communicate with the horses and gain a further trust between us, that enabled me to photograph them in close and intimate manners.

I set my gaze, not just upon the animals of the property, but their surroundings and the small everyday moments. I use multiple approaches to convey a peace and safety that I feel while with these animals, without only looking at the horses themselves.

Although I have created a photobook, 'The Half Light of Glimpses' (coming soon), from this project, the project is far from over. I strongly feel that this will become a very extensive and personal project in which I continue to explore my relationship with animals/horses and watch as my process develops and grows in unison with this connection to my subjects.
